MIDDLEWICH CANAL: The Middlewich is just a short, but very useful, link between the ‘Shroppie’ and the T&M at Middlewich. Similar in nature to the ‘Shroppie’, the Middlewich is classed as a mere branch of the ‘Shroppie’. It does form an important part of the 'four counties ring', but the branch takes less than 4 hours to cruise (barring queues at locks).
Mainly straight, it does have a particularly attractive section for mooring, where the River Weaver passes under the canal. The Weaver here is small (but less so than where we encounter it again at Audlem on the ‘Shroppie’).
