Middlewich
Canal:(Adjacent
canals can be viewed with
the above links)
The Middlewich is just a short, but very useful, link between the ‘Shroppie’ and the T&M at Middlewich. Similar in nature to the ‘Shroppie’, the Middlewich is classed as a mere branch of the ‘Shroppie’. It does form an important part of the 'four counties ring', but the branch takes only about 4 hours to cruise (presuming we don't suffer from queues at locks). Mainly straight, it does have a particularly attractive section for mooring, where the canal passes over the River Weaver below. The Weaver here is small (but not as small as when we encounter it again at Audlem on the ‘Shroppie’). The canal passes through typical Cheshire dairy land for virtually the whole length of the canal.

The River Weaver as seen
from the Middlewich canal and general views from the towpath - pleasant moorings.
